What ADAS uses the windshield

Many vehicles use a forward-facing camera mounted near or behind the windshield to support features such as lane-keeping assistance and automatic emergency braking. The glass in front of that camera is part of its optical path.

When calibration is required

Calibration generally applies when the windshield in front of a camera is replaced, when the camera is removed or disturbed, or when the manufacturer's procedure calls for it after related repairs. Your quote identifies whether your vehicle needs it.

Safety note: an uncalibrated camera can misread lane markings or distances. Follow the manufacturer's calibration requirement — it exists for a reason.

Static vs. dynamic calibration

Static calibration uses targets in a controlled space; dynamic calibration uses a prescribed road drive. Some vehicles require both. The right procedure comes from the manufacturer's specification, not preference.
